Description: Some 40 km out of Prague, one of the most popular and oldest castles in the Czech Republic looms on the rock above a river. It was founded in 1241 A.D. in the vicinity of the town of Benešov. In the castle there is situated for example one of the largest collection of the graphical sheets with the 30-year war motives, as well as one of the most extensive collections of copperplate prints and antique weapons. The castle underwent an extensive Baroque reconstruction and is decorated with stuccos. In 1991 the castle was returned to the house of Sternberks, who live in the castle at the moment.
